Gain consistency with your irons by mastering these golfing basics

We would say, in terms of performance, this has to be the best golf lesson we have released on to YouTube so far.

At the start of the lesson, Win was struggling with duff shots and fading the ball a bit more than he would like.

The solution? We didn’t overcomplicate it and focused on 3 key areas. The result? Consistency like you wouldn’t believe.

Be sure to check out the full video linked below for the in-depth explanation of the swing changes. But until then, to whet your appetite, here is a quick breakdown of the David Leadbetter drill we got him to use.

Flick the Mud Drill

Hold the club from the opposite end, and grip the shaft as you usually would. This will make the club feel a lot lighter than usual when swinging.

The aim of this drill is to flick the grip end of the club up, while you’re swinging to the top of the backswing. This movement ensures that you break your wrist adequately and reduces that ‘swaying away from the target’ motion that can happen when you start the backswing.
