We talk to Director of Global Tours and Global Sports Marketing, Chris Trott who has spent the last 13 years working for TaylorMade Golf on tour fitting and building relationships with some of the best players in the world.
We discuss the evolution of equipment, technology, behind the scenes stories from the tour, what the players are like to work with and how important club fitting is.
Chris is one of the most experience and knowledgable guys on tour and knows everything you need to know about fitting the best in the business. Enjoy!

Help your customers to find podcasts. I’ve listened to them all now through your MMG web set. But if I told friends to go and check out the podcasts on meandmygolf.com, I would need to provide detailed instructions on where to find each of the five podcasts you’ve done so far.
First of all why are podcasts a subset of articles. Someone looking for podcasts will not think of clicking on the Articles button. Assume they’ve clicked on articles, your new customer will find to the right of the screen a clearly useful link called Podcast. But not really very useful because there’s only a couple of podcasts under “Podcast” to find other podcasts the new user needs to click through each of the article categories.
But then podcast 3 and is not in any article category. The new user can find that podcast only by searching for Podcasts in the keyword search. At least that works better now than it used to, but it’s still a very poor search engine compared with other sites.
You should take on board one of your friends comments in podcast 3 – it’s repeat business. Repeat business means you’ve got happy customers and happy customers tell their friends the good news. Is that not what Chris explained as the basis of his success.
Back on March 2017 I spent a lot of time sending comments to you (and to Neil) about navigation difficulties on your web site. Things have improved a little, but the overall impression is still that your web site content specialists are more concerned about convenience for them in minimizing their efforts rather than optimizing the user experience.
Finding podcasts is a typical example. I would guess that the 5 podcasts have been put in article categories based on names drawn out of a hat. Even the articles themselves are in categories that have only a tenuous relationship between the article content and the category name.
Here’s a way you can quickly test this for yourselves. Starting at the home page, find your podcast with Chris Trott without using keyword search, or try finding podcast 4.
Other ways to increase your web site value:
1. Keyword search was good for the 1990s it’s all there was at the time. Now there are many better search engines around
2. Customer comment tracking: provide customers a means to find their own comments and provide notifications when anyone replies to a customers comment or adds other comments in the same thread. As it stands at the moment I have to remember how to find podcast 3 and come back here once a day until someone replies, or until I realize that coming back here is a waste of time because nobody else can find this podcast to reply to my comment.
Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian, thanks for taking the time top write this comment. Appreciate your feedback regarding the podcast and navigation on the site. Yes the podcasts weren’t originally created for the website, we made them for iTunes and they are still very new so we are just figuring things out still at the moment. We definitely need a dedicated spot on the site for them though so will certainly look in to that.
Commenting too should be so m much easier and we are in the middle of looking at this now to get this sorted very soon. New really want to make things easy to see any replies and threads and include notifications too. We have a new Coaching Plans section coming too which will be step by step guides to certain aspects of the game. This is going to be a big feature and hopefully create some good structure to how golfers should practice etc.
We will take all these comments on board for sure so thank you so much for pointing them out for us.
Thanks again
Andy
